Valerie is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who has treated individuals with eating disorders and eating problems for the past fifteen years. She feels passionate about helping women and men with eating issues and feels honored to have watched so many individuals go on to lead healthy and rewarding lives.
Valerie has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Eating Disorders at Brown University’s School of Medicine. During this time, she provided outpatient treatment for eating disorders as well as consultation services to inpatient programs. Valerie then moved to New York where she served on the faculty at Cornell University’s Weill Medical College and went into underserved neighborhoods of New York City to train primary care providers how to identify and treat eating disorders in their clinics. In November 2000, Valerie moved back to New England and was the first Clinical Director of Laurel Hill Inn, a residential program treating women with serious eating disorders.
For the past 20 years, Valerie has provided individual therapy in her private practice in the Boston area. She continues to provide consultation to universities, referral services, and private case management firms. She is a professional member of the Academy for Eating Disorders, MEDA (Multi-Service Eating Disorder Association), and the American Psychological Association.
