INDIVIDUAL TREATMENT

I provide individualized treatment in 50 minute sessions to help clients start eating in a more balanced way (not restricting and not overeating). To do this, we will focus not only on your eating but also build skills to help you cope with life’s stresses, take better care of your emotional and physical needs, and build the structure for the life you want to live.

I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my work with individuals which focuses on changing your pattern of thoughts and behaviors that no longer work for you. Sometimes, I incorporate DBT or other therapies as it makes sense to do so. In my work, I don’t spend much time talking about your childhood or the past, but rather focus on your current eating problems and how we can get you to a better place in the near future. I like to work collaboratively. I may be the eating disorder expert, but you are the expert on your life. We will set goals together and work actively toward those goals. I will teach you strategies to help with your eating, manage your stress, improve your self-care, and find balance in your life. Most weeks there will be some “homework” to do between sessions where you practice incorporating something you have learned in therapy.

If you are interested in individual treatment, call 781-488-3399 to inquire about openings and discuss how I may be of help to you.

CONSULTATION

Family

I provide consultation and coaching to family members. Eating disorders can be stressful on every member of the family. Parents often need support and direction while their child is entering or receiving treatment. Much of this can be provided over the phone if preferred. If I can be of help, please call 781-488-3399 to ask about availability.

Clinical

Eating disorder cases are complex. Sometimes it is helpful to have a seasoned eating disorder provider review the case or assess the client and then provide you with specific advice on how best to proceed with treatment.

Programs

I have worked closely over the years with residential treatment programs, day hospital programs, college counseling centers, college resident advisors, case management companies and others who provide services to individuals with eating disorders. I have frequently provided consultation around setting up appropriate services, identifying the correct target population, deciding what services to provide and how to package those, and providing feedback on the marketing of those services. Feel free to call me to discuss your consultation needs and how I can be of help.
